Inspired by the peaceful activism calling for racial equality and justice in Chicago and throughout the country, @properties commissioned Chicago artist Dwight White II to paint a mural. White’s painting of a young boy with a somber expression and intense eyes represents the idea that, in the artists words, “our kids are the future. All of the protesting/reform/activism happening now is to make a better world for them, similar to what those before us aimed to do.”
Dwight White II is a Chicago based artist who explores unique ways to spark emotion through visual storytelling. Dwight finds his inspiration on the energy of human experiences through the lens in which he sees the world. To leave a lasting impression on his viewers, he uses bold primary hues that typically contrast the human subjects he paints. His work aims to spread love and knowledge rooted in empathy and empowerment of the people.
